Description
At Gault’s Deli, we’ve been cooking up something special—MexiCrust. This bold, Mexican-inspired seasoning mix turns everyday chicken into a crave-worthy creation full of flavour and crunch—without needing to deep fry.
Each bag is enough to generously coat 1kg of chicken (thighs, legs, or nibbles), making it perfect for family dinners or weekend entertaining. Whether you keep the skin on for added crispiness or go skinless, the result is always delicious.
Gault’s Arriba Chicken Recipe
Ingredients
- 1kg skin-on chicken legs or skin-on chicken thighs
- 2 tbsp cold water
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- ¼ tsp Gault’s Deli Herb Salt
- 1 bag Gault’s Deli MexiCrust (use enough to coat the chicken)
- Olive oil spray (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 205°C. In a large bowl, combine cold water, extra virgin olive oil, and Gault’s Deli Herb Salt. Add the chicken and toss to evenly coat.
Place the Gault’s Deli MexiCrust in a large bowl or zip-lock bag. Add the chicken and toss until well coated, shaking off any excess. If desired, lightly spray with olive oil to enhance colour and texture.
Arrange the coated chicken pieces on a cake rack over a baking tray. Bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 62°C. Remove from the oven and let rest for 10-15 minutes, allowing the internal temperature to rise due to carry-over cooking. Return to the oven for 2 minutes before serving.
Simon Says: Air Fryer Method
Preheat your air fryer to 180°C. Place the coated chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they aren’t overcrowded. Air fry for 16-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 62°C. For extra crunch, increase the temperature to 200°C for the last 2-3 minutes. Let the chicken rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
